A Positive Attitude 一個正面的態度
When you first read this title, you would think, “What does this have to do with piano playing?”
First of all, you have to understand that your mind always comes first, before your body. Your mind controls your body (“No, my body is out of control! I cannot control my fingers!”). You think before you act -yes you do- if you don’t, you should not be reading this book, as you cannot even tell yourself to open it!
So let’s talk about having the right mindset for your piano playing. If you want to improve, you have to believe that you can, instead of thinking, “Oh, I can never get better even if I try!” that sort of attitude. I cannot help you with anything if you keep thinking in this way. So from here, think YOU CAN PLAY BETTER!
Okay, now you believe you can. Next, you have to believe that I CAN. Yes, you have to believe that I can help you and my method works first before you go ahead and try it. If you think my method is not good (“Why do I have to listen to you?”), then I can assure you it would not work at all. Nowadays, it is difficult for us to trust ourselves and others. But start from here, start from now.
YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN PLAY BETTER
YOU BELIEVE I CAN HELP YOU.
(Isn’t this chapter short?)
