Italian /French /German Music Terms

A student recently asked me about how to find resources on pronunciation of foreign musical terms, mainly Italian, French and German. So I found her a website that provides excellent resources on this matter. On the website you can find not only the audio clips for pronunciation of each term, but you can also see the explanation of each term in English. How cool is that?

You can see the links below:

From time to time I really wonder and truly appreciate the effort some individuals put to better other people’s lives because they care. And this is one great example of many. I hope I have been doing the same for you :)

Teresa Wong plays: Mui Wo Suite (complete) (piano improvisation)

This is an improvisation by me after visiting my favorite outlying island in Hong Kong, Mui Wo.

I particularly enjoy the ferry ride out there, the slow ferry on which you can be close to the ocean and watch and listen to the waves, and enjoy the beautiful sky where sometimes the lovely sun and the adorable clouds both appear.

Enjoy!

Control of Weight in Our Piano Playing (Part II)

In the last post I wrote about how the application of force in striking the piano keys down would drastically affect our piano playing. And there are two ideas you must understand. The first idea is: “We apply different level of weights for different dynamics.” Which I have explained in the last post.

In this post I continue to discuss about the second idea, which is “We apply different level of weights for each key – even in the same dynamic level.”
